TripAdvisor Names Travelers' Choice Destinations
Popular travel resource website TripAdvisor has released their list of the world's top travel destinations, and for the first time Morocco's Marrakesh was named the top destination in the world. The committe cited Marrakesh's markets, gardens, palaces, mosques and historical buildings as the top reasons for chosing the African city as the top destination.
Marrakesh jumped up five spots to take the top spot this year, dethroning Istanbul, Turkey which was last-year's winner. Siem Reap, Cambodia took the number two spot on the list.
Closer to home, New York City took home the top honor in the United States with Chicago coming in at number two.
